About the Grantee
College Street Capital ("CSC") is a student-run non-profit company dedicated to providing experiential learning opportunities in investment and company management to students attending the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA.
Since their liberal arts school did not offer an educational track allowing them to compete with other college students for competitive financial industry internships, a small group of enterprising College of the Holy Cross students founded a non-profit company unaffiliated with the college. CSC offers an experiential learning outlet for investment research, portfolio management, compliance, finance education, and company management. As a complete operating entity, non-financial majors are also provided an opportunity to gain valuable real-time experience running the company's administrative operations.
Why They Were Funded
SCF appreciated the drive, motivation and entrepreneurial spirit of the forward-thinking student founders, who not only created an opportunity for themselves, but also a created a legacy that will help other students for years to come. Since the organization was newly formed, SCF offered a matching grant for half of the money they were seeking, which they successfully raised and subsequently, our grant was funded. The company was fully functioning, staffed by students, conducting research and beginning to make stock purchases in about 9 months from concept.
We anticipate this will be a very productive and enduring educational resource for the college students.
